Girls go carefree on Delhi Metro

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is making sure no girl is harassed in its stations. A total of 1,237 closed circuit television cameras have been installed in 59 stations to nab trouble-makers. They would also be brought to the book under the Delhi Metro (Operations and Maintenance) Act 2002.

Bombs don’t matter to cops

Call it laxity or overconfidence, the police in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India have their own way of handling ammunition. Last February, they seized two hand-grenades from terrorists and stored them in the armory without defusing them. The cops believe that the grenades will not explode. However, senior police officers have called it an act of negligence.

Paternity is a belief and mother-hood is a reality, they say. Not so, proved Sunita Pawar, a nurse, who faked pregnancy and had herself admitted in a hospital. Sunita then stole a two-day-old baby, placed it in a pool of blood near her bed and gave the alarm. The cat got out of the bag when staff noticed that the baby was much cleaner than a newborn!

Sunita will now have to serenade policemen with her lullabies.

Scratch before you drive

Do not drink and drive. Do not use mobile phones when behind the wheel. And if you are in Kochi, do not scratch while driving. Recently, a policeman fined a man for scratching his neck while riding his bike. The offence: He was driving with one hand.

Tree trembler

A few prisoners of the Sendhwa Sub-Jail in Madhya Pradesh have seen a ghost atop a neem tree near the jail. And all of them have climbed the tree to attempt suicide! The jailers have now chopped its branches off.

But the ghost? Wait, till new branches sprout.
